Hear me speak at Cornerstone Festival

I am really excited about speaking at Cornerstone Festival this year in Illinois, USA. I haven't been to Cornerstone since 1999. They asked me to give 3 seminars. I just sent them these details. Let me know if you will be there so we can meet each other and you can buy me a coffee d:-] and also if you can think of better titles and descriptions than these.

MY 3 SEMINARS:

I Didn't Kill the Emerging Church!
One man's journey through thousands of emerging churches and millions of candles to see what remains after the most controversial church movement of the 21st century finally shaves off its gottee and gets a real job.
Description: This seminar will look at the rise of the emerging church and fresh expressions in North America and other countries over the past 20 years, the controversies, significant conferences, the maturing and transitioning into the mainstream, and its future as part of what God is doing today.

2 Bloggers in Pajamas and the Next Decade of Christian Blogging
Let's celebrate [and ridicule] the first ten years of Christian blogging and explore the next decade of streaming to the screen.
Description: We will look at milestones in the first decade of Christian blogging, what was achieved, how it changed the church, and which bloggers made a difference. We will also explore the future of life-streaming and blogging through social media, as well as online publishing to mobile devices.

3  Global Nomads and Couch Surfing Apostles.
Andrew Jones, serial nomad and existential migrant, will make sure you have everything you need in your backpack to save the world on a budget.

Description: A new generation of backpacking global nomads are beginning to change the world. We will look at existential migration as an alternative to short term mission and offer practical advice on how to survive, how to make an impact, and what needs to be in your backpack.

PLEASE let me know if you can come and hear me.

Andrew, all sound like cool seminars. Wish I could be there. One note: in your first description, you say “North America and other countries…” North America isn’t a country. 🙂

  • Andrew says:

ohhhh. sorry. i heard that because of the weak US dollar, Canada had bought out all the shares USA and was calling the new country North America.
    no offence intended.

  • Speaking as a Canadian I thought I was on the Alex Jones site for a second:) 1812 redux……..I’m glad to hear you will be at C-stone this year. I’m planning on bringing my family for at least a couple of days so it would be great to have a chance to meet you.

  • Tim Barnes says:

    Hey Andrew,
Tim Barnes here…used to be with International Teams. Glad to hear that you are going to be at Cornerstone. That is not too far from where we are now. I might try to come over for a day and I would most certainly be willing to buy you a cup of coffee or maybe even two!! The titles look good…makes me want to check them out!
    Blessings!!

  • Beth says:

For those of us not attending Cornerstone, what is the probability that you’ll be posting audio and/or summaries of these great-looking talks? I’m particularly interested in your “couch-surfing apostle” framework… I think I’d like to be one.

  • Not sure yet if I can make it or not. But I’m with Beth – video or audio at the very least is needed.

  • Andrew says:

Not sure if cornerstone will record them or not but I will try to do something to record or jot down notes.

  • Emergent? How about speaking truth to (its) power (of dumbing-downness)…

    I went to church,
I was down on my luck,
    I needed a plan,
    To make a buck!
    The church I went to,
    Didn’t make much sense,
    They told me it was,
    Get this: Emergent!
    EEH-MEHR-GHENT! EEH-MEHR-GHENT!
    EEH-MEHR-GHENT is the WORD!
    Warm fuzzy! Warm fuzzy!
    Blah, blah! Blah, blah! ABSURD!
    Bein’ from New York,
    I picked up their con,
    I had a dream!
    And I was reborn!
    I would write a book,
    Explaining: Emergent!
    For every weak-brained,
    Jabberwocky saint!
    EEH-MEHR-GHENT! EEH-MEHR-GHENT!
    EEH-MEHR-GHENT is the WORD!
    Warm fuzzy! Warm fuzzy!
    Blah, blah! Blah, blah! ABSURD!
    So I wrote my book,
    And it made me rich!
    ‘Cause it tickled all ears,
    With Emergent itch!
I explained the slick words of the,
    Emergent Church under cover,
That words in Emergent Church mean,
    Always one thing: WHATEVER!
    EEH-MEHR-GHENT! EEH-MEHR-GHENT!
    EEH-MEHR-GHENT is the WORD!
    Warm fuzzy! Warm fuzzy!
    Blah, blah! Blah, blah! ABSURD!
    Now, God is the Word,
    And the Word is God,
    To make Him Whatever,
    They think: not odd!
You see, they don’t care what God thinks!
Because they say: So what? Who cares ever?
So now, I’m rich, they’re poor: God winks,
His mind: Still ours to discover!
    EEH-MEHR-GHENT! EEH-MEHR-GHENT!
    EEH-MEHR-GHENT is the WORD!
    Warm fuzzy! Warm fuzzy!
    Blah, blah! Blah, blah! ABSURD!
