HPV and our family in the news again

My wife and daughter Abigail are the lead story on the Orkney Today website. This is related to an unwanted HPV jab a few months ago that made the news. This time, a member of Scottish Parliment is upset that Scotland has no minimum age for consent for medical treatment and sexual health services. Our story is the one she is using to push her case. God speed!!!

Heres how it looks in today’s newspaper. Click on it to enlarge.

Good for Deb in kicking up a fus on this one.

You should kick up a huge fus on this one!!! I am in the health-care profession and I refuse to allow my daughters to receive the hpv! There is NO long-term research available and girls are being used as guinea pigs! The drug was fast-tracked into use without concrete evidence of its effectiveness or its side effects. At this point, booster shots are required for the drug to be effective….ah man, this one is a hot spot for me, my blood pressure rises on this topic. Please do look into the academic research available and watch for conflicts of interest in the researchers, many of the authors of the research are associated with pharmaceutical companies that manufacture the product! (Just and added fyi, males are carries of hpv and they can be vaccinated according to the research; however, they do not have the option. Also, these same strains of the virus also cause pharyngeal cancer and gay men are being denied any coverage for the vaccination.) This is a highly political topic and I do not believe that this “wonderdrug” should be available as a preventative measure to females who have low to no risk factors, especially not without more (longer) research!!!
Stay aware and I thoroughly agree that children under the age of 16 should have parental/guardian consent, especially on this issue!
Sorry to rant, but this topic burns me!!!
