O Your Not HARDCORE, unless . . .

Fsdavidpreaching

I heard a terrible loud noise coming from the main stage at Freakstock Festival. It sounded like Tina Turner throwing a fit inside a cave with a loud speaker. When i got closer to the stage, i could just barely make out where the noise was coming from: a man on stage dressed in green. It was David Pierce preaching the gospel and calling for repentance and total commitment to Jesus Christ no matter what . . . appealing to the hard core examples of David Wilkinson and Jackie Pullinger . . which reminded me of the wise words of that sublime philosopher, Jack Black, who once said . . . “O your not hard core unless you live hard core!”

Some workshop people at SLOT couldn’t really talk inside the building because David was outscreaming them from the outside (under the tree more precisely). You described his voice rather well, I have been looking for the correct words! 😉 Anyway, it was amazing and surprising to see the youth jump right away to respond to the call David offered them. God bless him, but next time I’ll bring earplugs. And the person who gave him a mic didn’t check his vocal capacities beforehand. 🙂
Thanks for posting the photos! Great to get a little taste what’s it going to be next year, hopefully…

  • Jack Black…evangelist extraordinaire!!! Now I’ve gopt Jack’s image from School of Rock and him singing in my brain…it’ll be there all day…thanks!

In the early 1990’s I lived in Amsterdam and my office was located one floor above where NLM (No Longer Music) and David Pierce practiced. Even back then they were quite radical, but after listing to them rehearse, I thought the name of the band was quite appropriate.

Now this is one festival I really do want to go to. One day hopefully, I will be a freak.

It’s great to know David is still around, he used to visit Virginia Beach VA, USA to preach to the sleepy, apathetic and well-moneyed choir.

  • yeah – and i should mention that david and i had lunch together and he is quite able to carry a good conversation without shouting.
in fact, he is quite congenial and defintitely a top quality guy.
