Emerging Church MP3s

Talking Points: Grand Rapids Theological Seminary hosted a day of talks about the Emerging Church and made them freely available. Its a good conversation. I liked Number 5 the best because they deal with some of the criticisms. Remember that this is not dealing with the house church movement nor cyberchurch or the wider emerging church but rather the emergent-type churches that hold a similar structure to the traditional but are showing a possible way forward. (MP3):

1 – Emerging Church Past Present and Future (Brian McLaren)

2 – Emerging Church A Historical Theological Professors Reflection (Mike Wittmer) (Powerpoint Slides)

3 – Emerging Church A Pastor’s Reflections (Ed Dobson)

4 – Emergent Conversation: Present and Future Challenges (Brian McLaren)

5 – Emerging Church: Reflections and Questions (Steve Argue, Moderator. McLaren, Dobson, Wittmer)

[I originally called these “podcasts” but Justin says they are not – so I renamed this post.]

    Andrew…
Thanks for posting this. Talking Points was a good day of discussion and an important step for our community.
I think this type of dialogue is especially needed in the average church setting where historically, modern leaders, and younger leaders sympathetic to emergent heartbeat, need to understand each other and work together in their local context. I am believing that the existing church may where the conversation… or the misunderstandings might be the greatest and most intense.
Also, for another really good podcast, check out the GRTS Chapel messages. We had Dr. Robert Webber in later that week and he reveals pieces of his own journey away from a modern Christianity. It’s an inspiring story from a 72 year old “Younger Evangelical.” I’ve got a link to it from my site.
    Thanks again. Peace to you-

i couldnt help but notice that you were the moderator of this discussion, despite your last name.
    good job!

  • Very cool. Will download.
On a (perhaps overly picky) semantic note:
    mp3 file : podcast :: issue : magazine
so technically these aren’t a podcast, since they’re a one-shot deal (though of course a single issue of a magazine can be referred to as a magazine, so one MP3 in an ongoing series is called a podcast). But a great resource nonetheless. Thanks for sharing it.

Yes, yes. Ironic that the moderator’s last name is “argue.” I think some people were hoping for more of that!
For what it’s worth, I’ve posted my qeustions I used in Session 5 on my blog. The first question got cut off on the recording.
Justin, thanks for the clarity on the podcast/mp3 stuff.
    Peace-

    TallSkinnyKiwi apie Kylančią Bažnyčią

TallSkinnyKiwi pateikė keletą nuorodų į Grand Rappids teologinės seminarijos surengtos konferencijos įrašus. Dar pats neskaičiau, bet kuomet kalba Brian McLaren, dar nebuvau nusivylęs.
