Thanks for the Door plug – this is one sucker I didn’t write – I did the review on Forgiving the Franklins that’s on the site. Becky
I don’t think Miracle Maker is that bad; it’s actually one of the better Jesus films out there, in my opinion.
i agree with jonathan – miracle maker has had the most showing in primary and secondary schools than any other Jesus movie and the BBC material that goes with it for use in classrooms has been one of the most popular and most positively received religious education/ICT/design resources available to teachers – so it can’t be that bad eh !?!
Jonathan,
I with you on this one. Miracle Maker was well researched from a historical point of view. Jesus was shown working construction and not in a shop. Sepphoris was well presented also.
by far the worst is The Passion of the Christ
as Crossan said: The movie, like the non-biblical book it’s based on, depicts a theology of vicarious atonement in ghastly detail.
for me, it was a story of fear, not a Gospel of hope & new life
my fav 3:
Jésus de Montréal – complex & very meta
The Gospel of John – powerful depiction of a community experiencing Jesus
The Last Temptation of Christ – a work of art
The 10 Worst Movies About Jesus
Danny Gallagher at The Wittenburng Door makes a post about the 10 worst movies about Jesus (not counting The Passion – which I liked – and not just because I know the actor that played Jesus). HT: Tall Skinny Kiwi
Nooo, Miracle Maker is my favorite Jesus movie! What other movie shows him teaching while he chuckles playfully?
Thirty Three Things (v. 65)
1. The Illuminati is a selection of photos by photographer Evan Baden that show young people seemingly mesmerized by the glow of their electronic devices. Baden explains his project: In Westernized cultures today, there is a generation that is growing…
Quite nicely written actually, i like it. 🙂
I’ll definitely have to see them all for some guaranteed laughs at how bad they are, but it sounds like Jesus Vampire takes the cake.
