Downloading Riffs and Lyrics

My kids are all learning guitar at the same time. They are already in a “band” of sorts and are practicing their strumming by keeping up with Green Day’s American Idiot album.

When I was a kid, it was almost impossible to find out lyrics to songs on the radio. It takes my kids about 10 seconds to download lyrics with full guitar chords and riffs for any song they want. Not fair!!

The lyrics sites have gotten pretty annoying. If you want to look up information on a band or a specific song on Google, you’ve got to wade through dozens of hits on lyrics sites before you get to anything useful. Of course, if you’re looking for lyrics, it ain’t hard to find them.
As far as riffs (guitar tabs) go, when I was learning to play guitar about 7 years ago I lived on The On-Line Guitar Archive. I learned the whole “Shine On You Crazy Diamond” guitar solo from an olga tab!

i learned the guitar by playing my way through “Scripture in Song” – from the choruses in D, to G, then on to C and then the hairy ones beyond that.

But think of all the old hits from the 80’s that you can go back and learn now! Wouldn’t that be GREAT?
    (tongue firmly planted in cheek)
