The Emerging Church As Best As I Remember it

Today I am speaking twice at Cliff College. My two lectures are [and yes, i changed the names]:

1. The Emerging Church, as best as I remember it

2. The Emerging Church: What were we thinking?

. . . or something like that. Should be a good day. Please say hello if you see me there. Thanks to my friend Ron Willoughby (Contemporary Christian Studies Tutor) for the invitation and for twisting arms to get me there. Emerging Church is one of the seven streams of Cliff College’s postgraduate study and integrated into the undergraduate program. I love the way they describe the Cliff experience:

Courtyard

Being at Cliff is:

* not quite the same as being at a regular university

* different from being at other Bible Colleges

* sometimes similar to living in a monastery

It’s about community, and being centred on a common goal, on seeking to live a holy life, sharing our faith and encouraging one another to be the people God wants us to be.

Can we say hello to you even if we aren’t at Cliff but perhaps might be going off a cliff?

  • andrew says:

    hi becky
i heard they are recording it for the students but not for publication to the hoi polloi. sorry.

  • DS says:

Thanks Andrew – Is it open to the public on the day?

  • andrew says:

Ron is a sweetheart 🙂 and I’m sure that you were well taken care of. come back soon. (e.g. late Jan/ Feb when MEC (Postgrad in Emerging church 2) is being held. Would be GREAT!!!

I did an M.A. at Cliff College in 2003. It was a brilliant time for me. If you fancy doing a post grad. degree in Mission, emerging churchthere is no better place to do it. Check out their site. All their degrees are validated by Manchester University.

  • Talks on colleges are a lot of help to the students. This though, is something different, something unique as it talks about religion. So how did it go?

  • andrew says:

i thought it went well. and they invited me to speak to the PhD and MA students by Skype next year. all good!
