Cross Vision, Violence, and the Warrior God

The best book I read all year was Greg Boyd’s The Crucifixion of the Warrior God. Two huge volumes dealing with the smiting verses in the Old Testament and offering a fresh way of viewing them through the non-violent work of Christ on the cross, our fullest revelation of God. Loved reading this book but I have to say that it was far more linear and detailed that I was hoping for and Volume One was mainly just background and church history.

I heard that Greg was publishing a shorter version of this book and it looks like it is available already – Cross Vision. I probably wont be buying it because of all the work I invested in the long version but I imagine its possibly the most challenging Christian theology book to come out in 2017.
