Welcome to 2012

Hope your entry into 2012 was smooth! Nice to have you back on the blog.

The banner image is from Beijing during my visit in April 2011.

school girls in china

The funniest memory I have of walking through the many gates (check out my last post) in the Forbidden City and the Temple of Heaven is a group of school girls who suddenly screamed when they saw me and starting taking pictures. They probably thought I was a movie star or something. It was really funny.

I hope your entry into 2012 will give you entrance to some funny, serendipitous, random, unexpected surprises that will enrich you and make the year more fun.

My blog will be a little different this year. I will try to make it more of a resource for you and less of a reflective diary for me. I hope I get that balance right.

I am also toying with the idea of putting some google ads back on the blog. Our funding has dried up considerably this year and we need to generate more income to enable us to get into the countries we feel God is calling us to invest in. We were in 16 countries in 2011, and 25 countries in 2010. And 2012 will see us continue to resource missional entrepreneurs in more countries, as well as some revisits to continue our projects. However, i like the idea of this blog being 100% google ad free and will try some creative alternatives.

Thanks for joining my journey in 2012. Please let me know how I can serve you better with this blog.

I would love to kick it in China one day. Have you thought about putting out an E-book for funding? Write up a bit on your travels?

  • Andrew says:

Yeah. One publisher has asked me to write my thoughts on the new churches in the 30+ countries we visited in the past 2 years but i might just do a quick ebook while its fresh in my mind.
thanks for suggesting it. you are not the first.

I know how you feel about being “add free”…I just started a Christian blog on Blogger and was faced with the option to monetize. I don’t like the idea of using truth-seekers to make money…
This is my first time on your blog, and I really like it! It is very interesting =) I’ll definitely be following it!
Maybe you could check out my (very new) blog sometime?: http://therooftopravings.blogspot.com/

Whoops…I wrote “monetize”…not the word I meant to say; I meant to “make money”…not pay for a debt! HA! John Mark McMillan said it right when he wrote, “If grace is an ocean we’re all sinking” :o)
