OK . . THIS IS WEIRD!!!

Greetings from the Siberia Vodka bar which has a free Wifi signal. Aberdeen sure closes down at night. I snuck away from the hospital (which lacks internet) to catch up on some emails. They should release Abigail tomorrow. Things going well. We took all the kids out to see Ratatouille [Rat-a-too-ee] last night and even though i dont really like most kids animations, I have to say I really loved watching this movie. But then i like to cook and can appreciate the story.

UPDATE: OK – This is weird. I posted that previous paragraph at 6:29. At 6:41 I decided to do the decent thing and put a hypertext link to Siberia Vodka Bar. I did a quick search on Google using “siberia vodka aberdeen” and there was my post which had only just arrived on the internet 12 minutes earlier. And it was number 2.

Is that a record or what? 12 minutes from non-existence to number 2. Did i post that right before the Google-Bot swept over or are things accelerating? Anyone know?

So good to hear about Abigail.
Cool about the Google bot finding your post so fast. Maybe they have a special program that looks at blogs?

  • andrew says:

maybe . . or maybe they have bumped up the schedule
or maybe it was a fluke and the google passover angel just happened to be flying over.

I think you just got lucky.
Now I’m going to google “lucky.”

  • Andrew,
I think Google just does what it always does with an odd query… it essentially says in its machine-language equivalent, “Huh? I don’t know that! I’ll just send them to the Tall Skinny Kiwi, I’m sure they’ll be happy.”
Saw Ratatouille on Saturday with the kids… excellent movie, certain we’ll be buying the DVD.

This is an example of computers becoming self-aware.
It’s not a question of IF they will turn on us…but WHEN.

I mean think about it…even your blog makes you enter a random letter combination when commenting to keep “bots” from leaving messages.
    The rebellion is beginning…

I saw the headline “OK.. This is Weird!!!” on my BlogRush widget and had to come check it out. It’s OK to be WEIRD! I promise!! It’s my life’s motto, and my blog title, so I should know.

    It’s number one now…
Google just did a massive PageRank update, but I’m not sure that would have affected anything; maybe, though.

  • Matt Wiebe says:

Google updates its index at varying rates depending upon the PageRank of the site. You undoubtedly have a fairly high PageRank and therefore Google scans you more frequently.

TBH I’m surprised there is more than one post under “siberia vodka aberdeen” at all… surely Aberdeen is in Whisky country???

  • Ryan Wiksell says:

My surprise is that it hasn’t moved up to number one since you added your update that actually included the words “siberia vodka aberdeen” in that order. It’s an infinite Google loop! Aaaah!

  • Rickard says:

Heheh…I was going to pretend I knew what you guys were talking about and then I decided to Google “Internet Challenged” and my picture came up???
Great to hear about Abigail. We are praying

I thought you just got lucky, but I just noticed that other people are having the same experience.
