In Switzerland This Week

This week I am in Zurich, Switzerland for 4 days of strategic meetings related to DAWN Europe – getting serious, drinking coffee, talking shop, throwing snowballs, looking at counties on powerpoint presentations, drinking more coffee, thinking about one million new churches for Europe, wondering where the funds will come from, drinking coffee, getting hit by snowballs.

Here are some blog memories of my previous visits to Switzerland:

Interview with YouthWorld Mag: “The challenge will be for the next generation to lead the way – to actually live the life of Jesus in modern day Switzerland – to prove that a life of faith is possible and preferable. It will be a radical step and it will challenge the older generation to take the journey of Jesus seriously. But in the end, if the country follows the young people of faith and the way of Jesus, I believe that Switzerland will be better positioned to give away its gift to the nations.” more from Tall Skinny Kiwi on Switzerland

  • So I don’t mean to be a spoil-sport or anything (I am all for new churches), but can you clarify your comment on “a million new churches in Europe”? That number seems a little “out there” (given the fact that there are only about 730 million people in Europe all told…)

  • andrew jones says:

    730 million?
    dang!
maybe we should bump up the number a bit to catch up to our colleagues in Africa, Asia and South America?

  • andrew says:

    sorry Christian
i was cooking my sausages back then and didnt have much time
sausages, like onions, need a lot of attention to do them right
    ok – one million churches
    sounds like Dr Evil . . . I know . . . “ONE M I L L I O N CHURCHES” (followed by evil laugh)
it also sounds like the kind of church growth goal-setting number-crunching reach-for-your-calculator kind of statement that would have C. Peter Wagner stroking his gotee
but we are talking long term goals here and the number is still much smaller than other continents
i guess we have to ask “Is God finished with Europe?” or “Can we see a new wind that will give the continent back to God (preferable)
i dont want to talk too much about it because we need to be in much prayer this week together to hear the Father’s heart for Europe and make sure we are getting insructions from Him.
But i will be sure to talk about it more when i get back.
    thanks for asking.
and the sausages turned out OK .. . despite being the same cheap and nasty sausages that i swore i would never buy again.

    Isn’t it D-A-CH, not A-A-CH? D (DE…Germany), A (AT, Austria), CH (Helvetica Confederatio, Switzerland)?
