“The making of RUSSIAN ARK is a story of records and firsts – the first entirely unedited, single screen, single take, full-length feature film; the longest-ever steadicam sequence, the first ever uncompressed HD Movie, recorded onto a portable hard disk system, rather than 35mm or tape.”
Classic quote from filmaker: “I am sick of editing”, Sokurov said, “let’s not be afraid of time”.

I rented “Russian Ark,” and it is impressive as a creative work in what the filmmaker(s) accomplished. But, man, what a boring movie! Seriously. I was pretty bored by it.

the biggest thing we took away from this movie, aside from wishing we knew more of russian historical figures, was the amazing amount of effort and dedication it must have taken to make it!! i can imagine being halfway throuch the ‘take’ and some mishap ensures repeating the whole process again..
    cheers!
